Abstract

In order to create a therapeutic environment in the haemody alisis unit, in which the child can feel safe and will be able to develop to his full potential, certain criteria must be met. These criteria, for which the nurse has the main responsibility, are: familiarisation of the child with the physical environment, routines and language of the unit and with the members of the therapeutic team; and realising a relationship o f understanding, trust and sympathetic authority between the child and members of the team.
