The nurse is a member of the multidisciplinary health team. She is dependent on the co-operation of all the other team members for delivering proper patient care. To enhance teamwork she must do her part in establishing and maintaining effective interdisciplinary communication. She must know and take into account all the factors that could have a positive or negative effect on interdisciplinary communication in order to ensure a higher standard of patient care through teamwork.
