Abstract

The ward sister, being the senior nurse practitioner on the ward, has an important teaching task. This teaching, although mainly directed towards the student nurse, also includes all categories of workers in the ward as well as the patient and his family. Teaching on the ward mainly takes place on an informal basis, but some methods of formal teaching can be used with excellent results.
