Why do ward sisters no longer see clinical education as an integral part of their function? Clinical education should be seen in a new light and again become part of the ward sister’s daily activities — without necessarily increasing her work load. The clinical situation provides many opportunities for experiential learning, encouragement to apply theory, serving as a role model, shaping the student through supervision, problem solving, and using records and ward rounds as teaching aids.
