Group nursing in a psycho-geriatric unit is described. All patients in the ward are divided into groups according to their psychological and physical status and abilities. A group activity program in which all patients in the group are required to participate is planned in advance. Activities including hygiene, industrial therapy, exercise, and ward duties are planned in accordance with the abilities of the patients. Patients are evaluated daily to determine their progress. The meaningful results obtained within the First six months show that group nursing is effective although a number of problems were experienced.
